How do I wean an unwilling 14 month old from bottle to sippy cup?
He is 14 months old. I have him four days a week. His parents use a bottle to put him to bed at night, and in the morning for comfort. I cannot tell them to stop doing that, because it is their child. I have stopped with bottles at my house for over a week. Since then, he has gone from 10 ounces of milk at my house per day to 4 or less. Today he only had 2 ounces!!! I have tried different kinds of sippy cups, including the soft ones. He shakes his head "no" when I hand it to him, so I set it close enough for him to get to it if he changes his mind. PLEASE HELP!!! He doesn't like water or juice, unless it is given from a regular cup, but he only takes small sips.
It's not up to you to wean him. But since he will take sips of water from a regular cup, get a small, plastic, regular cup and give him water in it. It is up to you, and his parents to be the grown-ups in this situation, and to act it. That means not giving in. You can't tell them that, but you can advise them of it.
