Is the rear facing child seat safe when my baby can reach the back seat of car with his feet?
We have a Britax Roundabout seat and our baby was over 20 lbs at 6 months. He is just able to reach the back seat with his feet at 8 months. He still seems safe right now, but I am concerned that if his legs get much longer that the rear facing position could be unsafe. Should I scrunch up his legs a bit and continue to put him in the rear facing seat until he is a year old?
There are zero documented cases of rear-facing children breaking their legs, hips, feet, etc., due to their feet touching the back of the vehicle seat. However, since it looks plausible, this rumor persists.

But even if it dose happen the chance of full recovery is greater for broken legs than broken necks.
