Marathon Booster Car
Marathon Booster Car

Can a 6 month old ride forward facing in a booster seat? (Please read the WHOLE question before answering)?
My son is 5 months and is 18 pounds 12 ounces. I am currently using an infant carrier car seat. My problem is that he is 3 pounds away from outgrowing it and I want to replace it before that happens. I am having a hard time finding a rear facing car seat to fit comfortably in our JEEP liberty. I went to Toys 'R us today and was told to let him outgrow the carrier, then to buy a booster seat and put him forward facing in the car. I know he doesn't have the physical maturity to sit forward facing yet and am wondering if a rear facing car seat has to be fully reclined for him to sit in it safely. I also know the reccomendation is to be rear facing until 20 pounds AND 1 year.
I was looking at the Evenflo Titan and Britax Marathon so far. I am hoping to get a convertable type seat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
To answer your question, no, a convertible seat does not need to be reclined to fit safely rear-facing. Your baby will be more upright in the rear-facing convertible seat than he was in the infant seat, and that is still safe.
Glad to see another mama of a big little one! Mine is a month older and already outgrown his infant seat.
