When you think about the cost of a washing machine, which is something most households have and use and think about what little bit more it is to throw in some training pants that has the whoopsies in them, you may come to the conclusion that reusable training pants are the way to go.
In this day and age of going green, our landfills are filling up with many disposable diapers and now disposable training pants. There is the option to use disposable training pants versus reusable training pants. Reusable training pants have come a long way in how they are made. Years ago, if it was a ‘big accident’ there was only the cloth to catch the ‘accident’. Now they are made with materials to hold the wetness and not leak out.
When you pencil it out in today’s world, figure at 4 accidents per day with a potty training period of six months and come up with a cost of over $237.00 using disposable training pants (this is just an estimate, depending on the cost of the training pants). Then calculate the cost of using 12 reusable training pants, which is more than enough, and the cost was just over $100.00 (again, this is just an estimate). Not to mention if it takes longer than a six month period to potty train, this cost does not go up; it will stay the same with reusable training pants. When child number one is potty trained, you can pack them away for the next child, making the cost factor even less. The use of the washing machine would be minimal.
It all boils down to what a person feels about which type to use. You work hard for your money and costs are soaring everywhere, so you may want to think about which way to go when it comes to potty training. There is no right way or wrong way, only the way that works for you.
